Major retailers join forces with UK dairy farmers to trial methane-reducing feed additives
Arla Foods creates new collective project with Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi to trial the use of Bovaer®
British farmers that make up the UK’s biggest dairy cooperative, Arla, have joined forces with some of the biggest retailers in the country to tackle methane emissions. In a first of its kind joint initiative, the project will see a collective effort across the food industry to trial the use of Bovaer®, a feed additive that reduces enteric methane emissions from cows on average, by 27%*
As part of its FarmAhead™ Customer Partnership initiative, Arla will work alongside retail partners Morrisons and Aldi, and with Tesco on its new Future Dairy Partnership initiative, to highlight how feed additives can be introduced to normal feeding routines.
Testing a methane reducing feed additive
Together with Royal DSM, we're running a pilot to test the methane reducing feed additive Bovaer® on 10,000 dairy cows across European farms. Research indicates that Bovaer® can reduce methane emissions by around 30 per cent.
Proven climate solution
Bovaer® is a feed additive for cows and other ruminants. DSM has researched and developed this ad-ditive over ten years and extensively tested in 14 countries around the world. Bovaer® is available for sale in the EU, Brazil, Chile, and Australia. In the EU, it is the first ever approved feed additive with environmental impact, confirming its impact on methane emissions and its safety for animals, consumers and the environment.

Marcus Rashford’s work with FareShare
Why Marcus chose to support FareShare
he raised £20 million with FareShare, a U.K. organization that has provided 131.9 million meals to charities and vulnerable people.
England International footballer Marcus Rashford has been an ambassador of FareShare since March 2020.
At the start of the coronavirus outbreak, and planning for the consequences of the pandemic on vulnerable communities, FareShare launched an urgent Covid-19 appeal calling for donations, food and volunteers. FareShare was preparing for an unprecedented crisis, and expectations soon became reality with demand for food almost doubling within one month of the lockdown.

GREAT BRITISH PROPAGANDA
Rashford forced the Government into a U-turn on free school meals for vulnerable children during school holidays, and has helped raised millions to tackle social inequality all over the country.
But the forward, who has failed to score in his last eight games since returning from shoulder surgery, said the system must change, with charity unable to address the issues long-term.

Marcus Rashford defends charity deals over claims he 'benefitted commercially' from partnerships
Rashford has backed a number of child food poverty incentives and became the youngest person to top the Sunday Times Giving List by raising £20 million in donations from supermarkets for groups tackling the issue.
“Just heard @spectator are planning to run a story on me tomorrow about how I have benefitted commercially in the last 18 months.
“To clarify, I don’t need to partner with brands. I partner because I want to progress the work I do off the pitch and most of any fee I would receive contributes to that.
Last summer, 1.3M children had access to food support, through my relationship with Burberry children have a safe place to be after school where they will be fed, following the November investment vulnerable children have safe places to go this summer holiday, and due to my relationship with Macmillan 80,000 children now have a book to call their own.
