So, as part of the global effort to fight the climate emergency Scotland has set an ambitious target to become 'Net Zero' by 2045, five years ahead of the rest of the UK.

As we start to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic we have the chance to make positive changes to help tackle climate change and reach net zero emissions in a way that is just and fair. But we need everyone to take action and play their part. It’s time for change. With the wellbeing and safety of the world’s population at stake, we need to succeed. And together we can.

The Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) supports young people to drive meaningful change
The right for young people to have their views heard on matters that affect them and for those views to be taken seriously is one of the general principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). For many young people in Scotland there is work to be done to ensure this right is fully realised.
